Automated Test Analyst – Birmingham

We have a vacancy for an experienced Automated Test Analyst to work within our existing testing team based in our Birmingham Office providing rigorous testing activities and accompanying documentation to support each Figaro release.
The successful candidate will execute and maintain a suite of automated regression test scripts built predominantly in HP QTP and also TestBench/400 from Original Software.
The Automated Test Analyst will also be responsible for expanding the automated test pack by using HP QTP to automate areas of the current manual regression test pack identified as suitable for automation.
Duties and responsibilities of the role include:
- To run and maintain three daily automated test harnesses over JHC development environments
- To run the two week automated regression test pack every time a Figaro release is built for a client
- To maintain the quality of testing through control of test environments, test data and configuration items
- To help identify suitable candidate test scripts for automation
- To convert existing manual test scripts into QTP, leveraging the power of the automated tool appropriately
- To analyse the results of testing to determine which variations from expected behaviour should be raised as defects, which are intentional and which will need further investigation by manual testers/developers
- To understand the business logic being tested, to be able to re-write the scripts appropriately for intentional changes
- To document tests results and contribute into end of project reports and metrics
- To contribute to the development of the JHC automation ‘framework’ within QTP and be an active member of the inter-office JHC Automation Group
- To develop and adapt the automated testing function to any technology changes
- To work with developers to shape and improve testing standards and procedures across the company
The successful candidate should have a minimum of 2 years proven automated testing experience using QTP, and should be fully competent in programming the tool. A thorough knowledge of structured test methods and processes is required with an awareness of the Software Development Life Cycle. Detailed knowledge of the processes used in the UK Stockbroking industry would also be an advantage.
Ideally we are looking for candidates with a good standard of education and preferably ISEB qualified to foundation level. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to operate at any level within JHC and forge strong working relationships with third party providers, software developers and the JHC testing community are a must. Candidates must have a commitment to quality and a thorough approach to work and possess sound problem solving abilities.
Basic Salary of £27k – £36K p.a. plus bonuses* dependant on qualifications and experience based on a 35 hour working week.
