John Blackman
Managing Director
John has been managing director of JHC for 10 years. A computer science graduate from Imperial College, John was one of the original authors of the Figaro system and has been at JHC since its foundation. John has promoted Figaro as a solution to stockbrokers and wealth managers for over 20 years and this unique combination of business and technical skills has enabled him to guide JHC through a period of sustained growth. As chairman of the Management Committee John also oversees the company’s finances as well as being responsible for the Sales and Marketing and HR functions within JHC.
Julia Cornford
Director, Head of Client Services
A chemistry graduate from Oxford University, Julia joined JHC in 1986, and became a partner in 1988. One of the original authors of the Figaro system Julia is Head of Client Services based in our London office and is responsible for all areas of client relationships. This includes training, implementations and consultancy. She is in charge of the team of client managers and is also a member of the Management Committee.
Peter Murphy
Director, Head of Figaro Development
Peter attended Southampton University and has a BSc in Electronic Engineering. He joined JHC in 1987 and was responsible for producing the Crest interface. Peter became a partner in 1989 and maintains the relationship with our largest client TD Waterhouse, as well as being managing partner of the Newcastle office and in charge of Figaro Development. He too is a member of the Management Committee.
Ian Haines
Director, Chief Technical Officer
Ian joined JHC in 1988, having obtained a degree in computer science from Cambridge University, and has been a Partner since 1993. He developed the foundation classes JHC uses for its web and front office programming and went on to write a number of our applications and architectures including the Front Office GUI, limits processing and interactive trading. Having run the Front Office programming teams for 12 years, Ian moved over into technical research in 2010 and became JHC’s first CTO. He now works on JHC’s continuing architecture modernisation programme. Ian is a member of the Management Committee.
Matthew Rodgerson
Director, Head of Figaro Production
Matthew joined JHC in 1997 after working as an RPG programmer in the plastics industry and became a partner in 2004. A Physics graduate from Warwick University, he is based in Birmingham and was formerly the development manager for the Figaro back office product. Matthew is Head of Figaro Production and a memberof the JHC Management Committee. Matthew’s responsibility is to ensure the delivery of all Figaro projects in a timely and apposite fashion.
